Mommy May I Pet The Cactus?

or Why Does Congress Insist on Running with the Scissors - Pointed at US?

Long before Barack Obama became the 44th President of These United States and years before he was born there was me. Having no younger siblings, I was the baby of my house, which consisted of two parents and two older brothers, the other two siblings who would usurp my power over the kingdom would come later. Meanwhile, I was free to enjoy my only sister status and wreck havoc upon my other subjects. During my first five years of reign, all appeared to progress well. However, beginning with my sixth year, I entered the Catholic grammar school system. It was at this time my world began to change. First, there was a new arrival, my little sister, who I first viewed, as a mysterious mammal to be avoided would later become a very good friend. In fact, she is one of my biggest and best supporters. During this time, It appeared I was developing a strange dual personality on one hand I would try-on my mothers clothes and shoes while secretly dreaming up a secret world where I alone would make the decisions. I loved to climb trees, climb the swing-set bars where I would observe the world up side down. The world is a much more interesting place when it is looked at up side down. Don't you agree?

As a child, I explored everything that appeared safe. One of my favorite things was to touch everything especially if it was fuzzy or furry or had feathers. Yes, I touched even plants and bugs sometimes to my own detriment.  I remember one such moment in particular. My mother had a plant room that would later come to be used by various human relatives (not all at once mind you, for it was only as big as a large walk-in closet or nursery). Well I digress. You see, folks, my mother had quite the green thumb and she had a fair amount of potted plants of all shapes, sizes and textures, but the really interesting plants where the thorny, spiny, prickly, variety. However, I had a feeling these plants might be painful so I stayed away from the plant room. As I stayed away, I wanted to see and touch all of these plants. One would say, perhaps, I was a bit jealous of them and my mother. All I wanted was to make friends with the green unmoving objects. Therefore, one day, I tippy-toed into the room very quietly not wishing to awaken the plants, they might cry or scream or attack and I couldn't have that. I figured I would just look at them and leave - no big deal. Well I never realized how interesting the plant room was. There were plants with pointed leaves, striped leaves, round leaves and then there were the CACTI. I don't know why the cacti fascinated me. They clearly did not look friendly they had needles and prickles and thorns oh my and yet I was drawn to the plants like flies to a Venus-Fly-Trap. I had to see for myself despite the warnings from my mother not to touch the prickly cacti. Well, I picked-up one; it was the smallest of the bunch and looked like it had little fuzzy hairs on it. Surely, I thought, this furry little cactus would not hurt me - it just had to be a friend. I reached my little finger out to pet it like one would a kitten, but this was no kitten, and as I touched the cactus all of these little hairs reached out and stuck to my finger. It was painful, and I ran to Mom who magically appeared with a pair of freshly sanitized tweezers. Mom always had tweezers in her apron for pulling out splinters, ticks, glass and metal shards and now it appeared cactus needles. She didn't say I told you so, she just pulled out the cactus hairs and said there all gone and the pain and my tears disappeared.

If only adult life were like that - you could just pull out a tweezers and pull the offending object from whatever, whoever, wherever or however it was bothering.   Sadly, however life becomes much more complicated the older we get. When we reach adulthood, we're expected to carry our own tweezers, pull-out our own thorns and sometimes comfort ourselves. In other words, we need to take control and responsibility over our own lives with God's guidance. We should thank God when He sends another human to comfort us. Many times, though, it appears we are alone but God always provides.

You might want to ask me, what this very lame story from my childhood has to do with our government or congress for that matter. Let us review: our Government is running with scissors. Everyone from President Obama, his administration and even Congress, are all running with scissors, sharpened pencils, and knives. They are stepping in puddles while wearing no galoshes, grabbing prickly cacti and not wearing coats in the cold. They all appear to be attracted to unsound if not dangerous ideas; ideas that have not worked for centuries in fact other nations have or are in the process of abandoning these ideas because they clearly don't work.

What makes our Government so willing to abandon the Constitution of the United States of America, sound government values and practices, and free market principles? Who (the heck) knows. I can only guess. There are some disturbing developments. Let us go over them shall we?

Here is the List of Questionable Government Decisions so far:

  • Furthering infanticide through abortion all over the world (Remember God's Judgment)
  • Embryonic Stem Cell Research
  • Eliminating School Vouchers
  • Blaming America for All the Worlds Ills
  • Bank Bailout and TARP Despite warnings by the People)
  • Stimulus 1 (without reading)
  • Passing the Bush Administration Budget  (without reading and vetoing)
  • Stimulus 2 in the works, (will you listen to us yet)
  • Printing money to the point of deflation, then inflation perhaps depression.
  • More Government Regulations, Government Takeovers,
  • Nationalization of Healthcare, Banks etc
  • Ignoring and violating the Constitution despite the Oaths of Office for both the Presidents Administration and Congress
  • Closing GITMO
  • Bringing enemy combatants and terrorists back to the US for trial
  • Granting the US a safe haven to displaced Palestinians;
  • Changing the terminology and wording of terrorism to man-caused-disasters and other politically correct terminology
  • Tax Increases
  • More Social Programs
  • Mandatory civilian volunteer service etc.
  • I know I have missed a few items, but I know I can count on you folks to add to discuss and add to this list

I have been praying to God that our Government would stop and think before making any more decisions, passing bills, violating our Constitution and further errors in judgment.

We are imploring both Congress and President Obama to act reasonably and logically to cease running headlong into that abyss called Socialism and perhaps worse.   Whether you deny it or not, this is what you doing.

It is not just We The People urging you to stop. It is China, France, Sweden (who would have thought) and other nations warning that you have become irresponsible: you are overspending, you are overprinting, you are over- socializing please stop. Yet you don't stop - Why not? Are you are suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and cannot? Do you all need Psychiatric Therapy?   Must we head down the path already strewn with the dying economies of Japan and now England?   In fact, England is so devalued that Daniel Hannon, Conservative Parliamentary Member of The EU said that Gordon Brown is the devalued Prime Minister of a devalued Government. Will they say the same about us?   Must we become Zimbabwe? Are you are so determined to stick your finger, no, our fingers into the electric socket even after others have been shocked and have urged you not to do the same?

I urge you President Obama, your Administration and you, Congress to stop running with scissors. Please don't pet that Cactus called Socialism, it will hurt all of us and there are no more tweezers.

Biblical Perspectives on Unborn Children

Posted in: The Bible and Abortion
By Randy Alcorn

The Bible teaches human beings are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27; James 3:9). Not just Adam and Eve, but each individual since has been personally created by God (Malachi 2:10). Personhood is never measured by age, stage of development, or mental, physical, or social skills (Exodus 4:11).

Can we tell the moment of each person's creation by God? Science offers a clear answer that perfectly complements the teaching of Scripture. Dr. Alfred M. Bongioanni, professor of obstetrics at the University of Pennsylvania, states, "I have learned from my earliest medical education that human life begins at the time of conception. I submit that human life is present throughout this entire sequence from conception to adulthood and that any interruption at any point throughout this time constitutes a termination of human life." Speaking of the early stages of a child's development in the womb, Professor Bongioanni says, "I am no more prepared to say that these early stages represent an incomplete human being than I would be to say that the child prior to the dramatic effects of puberty is not a human being. This is human life at every stage."

Dr. Jerome LeJeune, genetics professor at the University of Descartes in Paris, states, "after fertilization has taken place a new human being has come into being." He says this "is no longer a matter of taste or opinion. Each individual has a very neat beginning, at conception."

Professor Micheline Matthews-Roth of Harvard University Medical School argues, "It is scientifically correct to say that an individual human life begins at conception."

Every indication is that the moment of each person's creation is the moment of his conception. Before that moment the individual (with his unique DNA) did not exist, and from that moment he does.

The Bible gives theological certainty to this biological evidence. Job graphically described the way God created him before he was born (Job 10:8-12). The person in the womb was not something that might become Job, but someone who was Job, simply a younger smaller version of the same man. To Isaiah God said, "This is what the LORD says: he who made you, who formed you in the womb" (Isaiah 44:2). Isaiah was not just a "potential person" but an actual person while in his mother's womb.

Psalm 139:13-16 paints a graphic picture of the intimate involvement of God with a preborn person. God created David's "inmost being," his soul, not at birth but before birth. David says to his Creator, "You knit me together in my mother's womb." Each person, regardless of his parentage or handicap, has been personally knitted together by God in the womb. All the days of his life have been planned out by God before any have taken place (Psalm 139:16).

Every person sinned "in Adam," and is therefore a sinner from the moment his life begins (Romans 5:12-19). David says he was not simply a sinner from birth, but "sinful from the time my mother conceived me" (Psalm 51:5). Who but an actual person can have a sin nature? Rocks, trees, animals, and human tissue do not have moral natures. Morality can be ascribed only to a person. That there is a sin nature at the point of conception proves there must be a person present at the point of conception.

When Rebekah was pregnant with Jacob and Esau, "The babies jostled each other within her" (Genesis 25:22). The word "babies" is the same Hebrew word used for already-born children. Hosea 12:3 says "In the womb he [Jacob] grasped his brother's heel; as a man he struggled with God." It was the same Jacob in the womb, younger and smaller, who was later the man who struggled with God. The Lord tells Jeremiah, "before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet" (Jeremiah 1:5).

Luke 1:41 & 44 refer to the unborn John the Baptist, who was at the end of his second trimester (sixth month) in the womb. The word translated "baby" in these verses is the Greek word brephos. It is the same word used for the already-born baby Jesus (Luke 2:12,16) and for the children brought to Jesus to receive his blessing (Luke 18:15-17). It's also the same word used in Acts 7:19 for the newborn babies killed by Pharaoh. To the writers of the New Testament, like the Old Testament, whether born or unborn a baby is a baby, a person is a person. The preborn John the Baptist responded to the presence of the preborn Jesus, when Jesus (judging by the time it would take Mary to get to Elizabeth) was no more than ten days beyond his conception (Luke 1:41). Since implantation doesn't begin until six days and is not completed until ten, it is probable that Jesus was not even fully implanted in his mother's womb when the preborn John responded to his presence.

Scripture says Mary "was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit." The angel told Joseph, "what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 1:18-20). To be pregnant, even at the very earliest moments after conception, is to be with child, not simply with what might become a child.

Where did the incarnation take place? Where did God first "became flesh and dwell among us"? 99% of Christians will say "Bethlehem," but that is wrong. Christ became flesh when the Holy Spirit conceived a child in Mary-that was at Nazareth, nine months before she traveled to Bethlehem.

In light of the full humanity of the preborn child, we must do nothing to take his life (Exodus 20:13). Furthermore, we should do all in our power to protect his life (Proverbs 24:11; Proverbs 31:8-9). Except in those cases where God has specifically delegated the right to take human life (e.g. capital punishment or defending the innocent), God jealously maintains his sole prerogatives over human life and death (Deuteronomy 32:39; 1 Samuel 2:6). To take that power into our hands is literally to play God.

Child sacrifice is condemned in Scripture. Only the most degraded societies tolerated this evil, and the worst of these defended and celebrated it as if it were a virtue. Scripture condemns the shedding of innocent blood (Deuteronomy 19:10; Proverbs 6:17; Isaiah 1:15; Jeremiah 22:17). While the killing of all innocent human beings is detestable, the Bible regards the killing of defenseless children as particularly heinous (Leviticus 18:21; 20:1-5; Deuteronomy 12:31). The prophets were outraged that some Jews sacrificed their children. They warned it would surely result in the devastating judgment of God on their society (Jeremiah 7:30-34; Ezekiel 16:20-21, 36-38; 20:31; compare 2 Kings 21:2-6,16 with 2 Kings 24:3-4 and Jeremiah 15:3-4).

Christians throughout church history have affirmed with a united voice the humanity of the preborn child and the duty to protect him. The second-century Epistle of Barnabas speaks of "killers of the child, who abort the mold of God." Barnabas treats the unborn child as any other human "neighbor" by saying, "You shall love your neighbor more than your own life. You shall not slay a child by abortion. You shall not kill that which has already been generated" (Epistle of Barnabas 19.5).

The Didache, a second-century catechism for young converts, states, "Do not murder a child by abortion or kill a new-born infant" (Didache 2.2). Tertullian said, "It does not matter whether you take away a life that is born, or destroy one that is coming to the birth. In both instances, the destruction is murder" (Apology, 9.4). Jerome called abortion "the murder of an unborn child" (Letter to Eustochium, 22.13). Augustine warned against the terrible crime of "the murder of an unborn child" (On Marriage, 1.17.15). Origen, Cyprian, and Chrysostom stood alongside every prominent theologian and church leader in condemning abortion.

John Calvin said, "The fetus, though enclosed in the womb of its mother, is already a human being and it is a monstrous crime to rob it of the life which it has not yet begun to enjoy. If it seems more horrible to kill a man in his own house than in a field, because a man's house is his place of most secure refuge, it ought surely to be deemed more atrocious to destroy a fetus in the womb before it has come to light."

Christ's disciples failed to understand how valuable children were to him, when they rebuked those who tried to bring them near him (Luke 18:15-17). Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

The biblical view is that children are a blessing and gift from the Lord (Psalm 127:3-5). Modern society treats children as inconveniences and liabilities-the less of them the better. We must learn to love children as does God, who "defends the cause of the fatherless" (Deuteronomy 10:18). He calls on us to do the same: "Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked" (Psalm 82:3-4).

It is clear what Bible-believing Christians should think of abortion. As we contemplate what we should do about it, we might begin with the words of our Lord Jesus: "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me" (Matthew 25:40).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
CNN Reports That Obama's Relationship With Ayers Is "Much Deeper Than Obama Said"

"But the relationship between Obama and Ayers went much deeper, ran much longer, and was much more political than Obama said." -- CNN's Drew Griffin

CNN Report
CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360"
October 6, 2008

CNN's Drew Griffin: "Bill Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, in the 1960s and '70s, were radical, members of the Weather Underground, an anti-Vietnam war group that bombed federal buildings including the U.S. Capitol and the Pentagon.

"On the run for years, the case against them was thrown out due to illegal wiretaps and prosecutor misconduct. Ayers has never repented and has said as late as 2001, he wished he had done more to stop the war. Barack Obama confirmed during a primary debate that he knew Ayers and when pressed, said they served on a charitable foundation board together. And Obama condemned Ayers support of violence. But the relationship between Obama and Ayers went much deeper, ran much longer, and was much more political than Obama said."

Obama Senior Adviser Anita Dunn: "What they are arguing is that somehow the fact that these two people who served both educational reformers in Chicago, both of whom did have their paths cross professionally as well as neighbors occasionally. But somehow this association is a problem for Barack Obama because of Bill Ayers past and things that happened in the 1960s when Barack Obama was 7 years old.

"And that's just wrong and, frankly, it's quite unfair."

Griffin: "One place their paths repeatedly crossed, according to a CNN review of board minutes and other records, was Chicago's Annenberg Challenge project where a $50 million grant from the Annenberg Foundation matched locally raised funds to improve schools.

"According to participants and project records, Bill Ayers fought to bring the Annenberg grant to Chicago, Barack Obama was recruited as its chair. For seven years, Bill Ayers and Obama among many others, worked on funding for education projects, including some experiments supported by Ayers.

"Stanley Kurtz, a conservative researcher for the Ethics and Public Policy Center has also been reviewing the recently released records of Chicago's Annenberg's challenge."

National Review Online's Stanley Kurtz: "Instead of giving money directly to schools, they gave money to what they called external partners, and these external partners were often pretty radical community organizer groups."

Griffin: "And the board gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to Bill Ayers' small schools project promoting alternative education like 'The Peace School,' where the curriculum centered around a United Nations theme, and another school where the focus was, African- American studies.

"And this was directly funded by Annenberg?"

Kurtz: "Oh, yes."

Griffin: "Under Obama's chairmanship?"

Kurtz: "Oh yes and the specific job of the board of directors was to give out the money."

Griffin: "While continuing work on the Annenberg Challenge, Barack Obama and Bill Ayers also served together on a second charitable foundation, the Woods Fund. Among its recipients, Jeremiah Wright's Trinity United Church where Obama attended and a Children and Family Justice Center, where Ayers' wife worked. Ayers has strong defenders in Chicago, among them Richard Daly, the mayor, who called Ayers a valued member of the Chicago community. The city gave Ayers its Citizen of the Year award in 1997 for his work on the Annenberg project.

"For Obama, the chairmanship of the $100 million Annenberg board, helped vault him from Southside Chicago lawyer to political player. And that, too, has another connection to Bill Ayers.

"In 1995, months after the little known Barack Obama became Annenberg project chair, State Senator Alice Palmer introduced the young Obama as her political heir apparent.

"Where was that introduction made? At the home of the '60s radicals, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. The Obama campaign again says it is just a coincidence."

Dunn: "A Democratic state senator organizes a meeting of her supporters at the house of another one of her supporters. What is the problem here, Drew? It is the worst kind of inference and the worst kind of politics to say that somehow that says something about Barack Obama."

Griffin: "Anderson, this meeting at Bill Ayers home has been classified in many different ways. What I can tell you from the two people who were actually there, is number one, former Senator Alice Palmer says she, in no way organized this meeting and she was invited and attended it briefly. And Doctor Quentin Young, a retired doctor, told us this indeed was Barack Obama's political coming out party and it was hosted by Bill Ayers."

Cooper: "So Drew, I mean bottom line, if Obama and Ayers worked together with others to -- I guess improve schools, what exactly is the McCain-Palin camp saying is wrong with this relationship or this working relationship? Or however you want to characterize it?"

Griffin: "Well Anderson, I haven't contacted the campaign on this issue. What they're saying on the stump is the same thing that Hillary Clinton brought up during the primary campaign is the issue of trust.

"By raising this issue of Bill Ayers, and whether or not Barack Obama was hanging around him, palling around with him, or just working with him, Bill Ayers in the '60s had a very, very different view of the United States that many Americans did. A lot of Americans were against the Vietnam War but not a lot of Americans formed a group and started bombing things because of it.

"Now, they're trying to say that that raises judgment issues on Barack Obama. Which has been the tag other campaigns and now McCain's have been trying to peg on him ever since he started running for president."

Cooper: "But Barack Obama has publicly stated he does not agree with this guy?"

Griffin: "Correct. Well, he has said that he does -- I forget his exact words but he's certainly deplores the violence in the past."

Cooper: "Right."

Griffin: "I haven't been able to ask him directly about the relationship he has or had with Bill Ayers."

An Infant's Right to Life In and Out of The Womb

This morning, every thread of my Faith, convictions and sanity would be tested when I recieved an e-mail and attached video on Youtube concerning Mr. Obama and abortion from Col. Riley of Patriots Revolt.com.

I urge you to view this video and others on youtube and then read my e-mail response.

Col. Harry Riley

A Killer Of Babies - A Disgusting, Immoral Coward

Kill that baby so I can get Planned Parenthood support..........this is the attitude of Obama....politicing with the lives of the unborn...does it get more despicable?

How can a civilized society put up with this,,,I don't care what you political party is,,,everyone has a heart...what has happened to America...if this doesn't break you heart, it's stopped beating.....

http://www.youtube.com:80/watch?v=VIdbYjmbFzo

McCain isn't much better. He won't touch Roe v. Wade.......and claims to be pro-life.

Harry Riley, COL, USA, Ret

www.patriotsrevolt.com

Dear Col. Riley,

Thank you for your e-mail.  I remain inconsolable.  I am about to post this letter in my Townhall.com blog that may silence my writing in this blog forever, I covet your prayers and support for whatever the outcome.

I must take the stand for those who cannot speak for themselves.  God requires it.

Having reluctantly watched the video in horror, I could not help but wonder what form of  demonic, maniacs exist posing as " human beings ie; presidential candidates, politicians, thinking, supposedly feeling caring women ,and the worst affront of all "health care professionals" (doctors, nurses, pharmacists, technicians anyone in the field) who while promising to do no harm, willingly cause the death of a life in the womb.

Abortion, shocking and diabolical enough when the baby is killed within the womb, how much more abominable, when a near or full term baby delivered from the womb; who proves itself to be a viable, breathing, suffering, fighting to live human being outside of the womb; is then intentionally left to die without even the smallest attempt to provide critical medical intervention.  These babies feel pain, they want to be held and loved and are instead thrown away as trash - oh the anguish, the heartbreak.   There is no difference between abortion and the slaughtering of the innocents in the bible.

May God's judgment be upon these people.  Cause them, Oh Lord, to confess their sin or face Your Just Hand and the punishment that awaits them for knowingly, with full consent and awareness for continuously, practicing this sin.

I will NOT support any candidate, party or government who willingly justifies the murder of the unborn child, or any living, breathing child, including supporting any form of condoned euthanasia.

I will NOT vote for anyone supporting abortion and I would write in a pro-life candidate, even if it be my own.

Lord God change our hearts to be more like yours,

God Help and forgive America and judge us not because of the sins of others but strengthen, those your faithful in condemning the unprovoked death of the tiny and the helpless.

In Jesus Name Amen!

The Lord bless and keep you for your vigilance.

McCain Camp on B.O.'s Cancelled Troop Visit

Hi Folks,

Just thought I would share a little e-mail, I received today.

MCCAIN CAMPAIGN ON BARACK OBAMA'S CANCELLED TROOP VISITS

For Immediate Release

Contact: Press Office

Saturday, July 26, 2008

703-650-5550

ARLINGTON, VA -- Today, retired Lt. Colonel Joe Repya issued the following statement on Barack Obama's cancelled visit to Ramstein and Landstuhl:

"The most solemn duty of a commander in chief is to fulfill his responsibility to the men and women who serve this country in uniform. Barack Obama had scheduled a visit with wounded American troops who have served with honor and distinction in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but he broke that commitment, instead flitting from one European capital to the next. Several explanations were offered, none was convincing and each was at odds with the statements of American military leaders in Germany and Washington. For a young man so apt at playing president, Barack Obama badly misjudged the important demands of the office he seeks. Visits with world leaders and speeches to cheering Europeans shouldn't be a substitute for comforting injured American heroes."

Army Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Joe Repya served 30 years of duty and three wars, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was born in 1946 in Gary, Indiana. He was the oldest son of a disabled combat wounded veteran of the European Campaign of World War II. Awarded an ROTC scholarship he attended Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI, graduating in 1969. Upon graduation he was appointed to the Regular Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry. His 30 years of service in the US Army (12 years Active and 18 years in the National Guard & Reserves) lasted from 1969 until 2006. He served as a Combat Infantry Rifle Platoon Leader in Viet Nam in 1970/71 with the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment (Band of Brothers "Currahee's"), and an Aero Rifle Platoon Leader with A Troop, 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment. In Desert Storm 1990/91, he served as a Combat Helicopter Pilot and Staff Officer with the 4th Brigade (Aviation), 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red One). He initially retired in 1998.

After the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001, he was one of 12,000 US Army retirees who volunteered for Retiree Recall to Active US Army duty for Operation Iraqi Freedom. LTC Repya was selected as one of only 350 retirees who were returned to active duty status. At 58 years old on October 1, 2004 he returned as an Aviation Branch Officer for two more additional years of active duty service with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY. He served for nine months as the G-3 Air for the Division. In 2005 he served as the Senior Liaison Officer for the 101st Airborne Division with the Multi National Corps Headquarters at Camp Victory, Baghdad, Iraq. He reentered retired status at the end of September 2006 at the age of 60.
