Our Declaration of Independence


In light of the current challenges our country faces due to the faulty thinking and acting,  greedy government (in all of it's forms), public community organizations; banks; insurance companies; mortgage companies; small medium and large businesses and even many of our citizenry (including myself), the list is endless, we need to remember when, where, How and Why The USA came to be We are a nation that founded a country on liberty and freedom for all.  Granted, freedom for all took over 200 years to be fully actualized, the framework for this freedom was actually under construction weeks before the recorded date of July 4th, 1776.  It took another month until the delegates began to sign it and it was not sent to the states until January 1777.

IN CONGRESS, JULY 4, 1776
The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. — Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected, whereby the Legislative Powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

For protecting them, by a mock Trial from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our British brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.

Mommy May I Pet The Cactus?

 
or Why Does Congress Insist on Running with the Scissors - Pointed at US?

Long before Barack Obama became the 44th President of These United States and years before he was born there was me. Having no younger siblings, I was the baby of my house, which consisted of two parents and two older brothers, the other two siblings who would usurp my power over the kingdom would come later. Meanwhile, I was free to enjoy my only sister status and wreck havoc upon my other subjects. During my first five years of reign, all appeared to progress well. However, beginning with my sixth year, I entered the Catholic grammar school system. It was at this time my world began to change. First, there was a new arrival, my little sister, who I first viewed, as a mysterious mammal to be avoided would later become a very good friend. In fact, she is one of my biggest and best supporters. During this time, It appeared I was developing a strange dual personality on one hand I would try-on my mothers clothes and shoes while secretly dreaming up a secret world where I alone would make the decisions. I loved to climb trees, climb the swing-set bars where I would observe the world up side down. The world is a much more interesting place when it is looked at up side down. Don't you agree? 

As a child, I explored everything that appeared safe. One of my favorite things was to touch everything especially if it was fuzzy or furry or had feathers. Yes, I touched even plants and bugs sometimes to my own detriment.  I remember one such moment in particular. My mother had a plant room that would later come to be used by various human relatives (not all at once mind you, for it was only as big as a large walk-in closet or nursery). Well I digress. You see, folks, my mother had quite the green thumb and she had a fair amount of potted plants of all shapes, sizes and textures, but the really interesting plants where the thorny, spiny, prickly, variety. However, I had a feeling these plants might be painful so I stayed away from the plant room. As I stayed away, I wanted to see and touch all of these plants. One would say, perhaps, I was a bit jealous of them and my mother. All I wanted was to make friends with the green unmoving objects. Therefore, one day, I tippy-toed into the room very quietly not wishing to awaken the plants, they might cry or scream or attack and I couldn't have that. I figured I would just look at them and leave - no big deal. Well I never realized how interesting the plant room was. There were plants with pointed leaves, striped leaves, round leaves and then there were the CACTI. I don't know why the cacti fascinated me. They clearly did not look friendly they had needles and prickles and thorns oh my and yet I was drawn to the plants like flies to a Venus-Fly-Trap. I had to see for myself despite the warnings from my mother not to touch the prickly cacti. Well, I picked-up one; it was the smallest of the bunch and looked like it had little fuzzy hairs on it. Surely, I thought, this furry little cactus would not hurt me - it just had to be a friend. I reached my little finger out to pet it like one would a kitten, but this was no kitten, and as I touched the cactus all of these little hairs reached out and stuck to my finger. It was painful, and I ran to Mom who magically appeared with a pair of freshly sanitized tweezers. Mom always had tweezers in her apron for pulling out splinters, ticks, glass and metal shards and now it appeared cactus needles. She didn't say I told you so, she just pulled out the cactus hairs and said there all gone and the pain and my tears disappeared. 

If only adult life were like that - you could just pull out a tweezers and pull the offending object from whatever, whoever, wherever or however it was bothering.   Sadly, however life becomes much more complicated the older we get. When we reach adulthood, we're expected to carry our own tweezers, pull-out our own thorns and sometimes comfort ourselves. In other words, we need to take control and responsibility over our own lives with God's guidance. We should thank God when He sends another human to comfort us. Many times, though, it appears we are alone but God always provides. 

You might want to ask me, what this very lame story from my childhood has to do with our government or congress for that matter. Let us review: our Government is running with scissors. Everyone from President Obama, his administration and even Congress, are all running with scissors, sharpened pencils, and knives. They are stepping in puddles while wearing no galoshes, grabbing prickly cacti and not wearing coats in the cold. They all appear to be attracted to unsound if not dangerous ideas; ideas that have not worked for centuries in fact other nations have or are in the process of abandoning these ideas because they clearly don't work. 

What makes our Government so willing to abandon the Constitution of the United States of America, sound government values and practices, and free market principles? Who (the heck) knows. I can only guess. There are some disturbing developments. Let us go over them shall we? 

 

Here is the List of Questionable Government Decisions so far:

 

  • Furthering infanticide through abortion all over the world (Remember God's Judgment)
  • Embryonic Stem Cell Research
  • Eliminating School Vouchers
  • Blaming America for All the Worlds Ills
  • Bank Bailout and TARP Despite warnings by the People)
  • Stimulus 1 (without reading)
  • Passing the Bush Administration Budget  (without reading and vetoing)
  • Stimulus 2 in the works, (will you listen to us yet)
  • Printing money to the point of deflation, then inflation perhaps depression.
  • More Government Regulations, Government Takeovers,
  • Nationalization of Healthcare, Banks etc
  • Ignoring and violating the Constitution despite the Oaths of Office for both the Presidents Administration and Congress
  • Closing GITMO
  • Bringing enemy combatants and terrorists back to the US for trial
  • Granting the US a safe haven to displaced Palestinians;
  • Changing the terminology and wording of terrorism to man-caused-disasters and other politically correct terminology
  • Tax Increases
  • More Social Programs
  • Mandatory civilian volunteer service etc. 
  • I know I have missed a few items, but I know I can count on you folks to add to discuss and add to this list

I have been praying to God that our Government would stop and think before making any more decisions, passing bills, violating our Constitution and further errors in judgment.

We are imploring both Congress and President Obama to act reasonably and logically to cease running headlong into that abyss called Socialism and perhaps worse.   Whether you deny it or not, this is what you doing. 

It is not just We The People urging you to stop. It is China, France, Sweden (who would have thought) and other nations warning that you have become irresponsible: you are overspending, you are overprinting, you are over- socializing please stop. Yet you don't stop - Why not? Are you are suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and cannot? Do you all need Psychiatric Therapy?   Must we head down the path already strewn with the dying economies of Japan and now England?   In fact, England is so devalued that Daniel Hannon, Conservative Parliamentary Member of The EU said that Gordon Brown is the devalued Prime Minister of a devalued Government. Will they say the same about us?   Must we become Zimbabwe? Are you are so determined to stick your finger, no, our fingers into the electric socket even after others have been shocked and have urged you not to do the same?

I urge you President Obama, your Administration and you, Congress to stop running with scissors. Please don't pet that Cactus called Socialism, it will hurt all of us and there are no more tweezers.

Don't Close GITMO, & Don't Bring That Viper's Nest of Terrorists to US Mainland

Hi folks your opinion please:  Read the following am I being too harsh:

Dear Congress,

I am going to be blunt.

Where in God's name is your common sense?

Leave the the evil terrorist vipers in Gitmo, and subject them to the US Military Tribunal as planned.  Giving them Constitutional Rights is a slap in the face to the Constitution and to US, The American People. 

President Obama is meeting today to explain to families who have lost loved ones (due to the actions of contemptable, predators who do not deserve to be called humans or animals for that matter) to explain why he is dropping charges on the mastermind who killed their loved-ones.  I want to be a fly on that wall!   These poor families who have lost their loved ones are going to feel like they have been betrayed by their Government.  Why subject these grieving American Families to a decision that will rip anew old wounds? 

Sticking Terrorists in our prisons will guarantee only this: our criminals will be more destructive criminals because of the training and scheming learned from these Jihady Terrorists.  Terrorists are safer in Gitmo than in a US prison and they get treated much better than our own convicts. 

Now, Ask me if I care what other nations think of US.  Especially France!  Thanks to President Obama and his constant belittling of The American People, We already look bad.

As far as Terrorists receiving poor treatment from our military, I don't believe it for a minute.  What Kool-Aid did you folks drink from the Far-Left, Liberal ,Progressive ACLU-Left to believe that these murderers are innocent or beyond reproach?  If you bring these peole here you will really subject the US to laughter and danger from around the world.  The only way to deal with evil is with strength.   Appeasement of terror, lawlessness and evil never works never works and is an abomination to God.  Why are you afraid?  Do you think you can reason with these murders.  We have been in-danger of Islamic Jihad since the 18th century (mid-1790's).  If some misguided judge gets a hold of them and releases them in The USA, it won't be long until these people start killing and bombing as soon as thier athletic shoes hit the US pavement in a city near you.

Thanks a lot for not sticking-up for US folks and for subjecting US to the Whim of silly special interest groups all over the world.

Forgive me for being direct:  Despite the knowledge that many of us oppose
bailouts of any kind beginning with the 700 billion originally demanded
until the present and probably beyond, what does it matter?   Do our
elected officials really give a hoot?

Here is what I think:  No one on the Hill really cares what we think and
you all will most certainly do what you want anyway,  so why bother to ask
us? 

However, now having said that let me now address the reasons for the fall
of the American Auto Industry.  Please keep in mind, this may apply to any
American Industry who believed at one time that "Made in America" was a
mark of a great product made with dignity and pride by the talented and
painstaking hands of The American Worker .  Sadly, today this is not the
case.  With more of our businesses and industries leaving our shores for
the shores of another, we find ourselves wondering why. 

Why have you all chased our industries to other countries?

Could it be we have priced ourselves out of all competitive markets due to
business contracts too lofty to fulfill?

Do we make products that are inferior, not that China has the market on
safe and quality products either, (Since when is melamine and cyanuric
acid in any level safe especially in baby formula, (go ask the FDA)?

Is it the Over-Regulation with cafe standards that hurt the quality,
safety and efficiency of a product? 

Is it the Illogical, Unrealistic Overemotional demands of the extreme
radical environmentalists with their none of the above, not in my backyard
attitude? 

Perhaps people want a larger car perhaps a hybrid and not a dinky little
tin box for twice as much money and not enough car (you need to plug in
every night before you go to bed and what if there is a power-failure, 
talk about the strain on the electric grid).   Do we put solar panels and
windmills on a car?  Which brings me to oil production if OPEC raises it's
price per barrel what then?  You seem to forget the petroleum is used for
about 4000 other things in addition to gasoline.    If it is a combustion
engine it uses so form of petrol.  Did you know there is an asphalt
shortage? 

Solutions:  If the coastal states allow drilling offshore up to 8 miles,
and allow the Fed to drill beyond the 8 mile limit, then I would think the
increase in revenue for both the states and the fed could well pay for
alternative energy expansion, auto retooling and design.   Use the
natural resources we have in abundance, while developing the alternatives. 

Don't subject the USA to unreasonable demands, a weakened national security
and economy and by the way do away with that goofy Mark to Market
accounting rule and those overreaching Sarbanes-Oxley regulations they
evidently are Not Working. 

Listen folks, if the UAW is willing to make some concessions you should be
willing to make concessions with the accounting rules and ask the enviros
to slow down a bit in saving the planet because the humans live here as
well.   Considering the Earth is slowing and the Sun is aging, (well we are
all aging), we can only do what is realistic and feasible at this time.

Do You Oppose or Support the Auto Industry Bailout?

Do you oppose or support the Auto Industry Bailout?
Go to Congress.org and voice your opinion I did.
Read below.  Here's what I wrote.

 
Mr. President, Senators and House Representatives forgive me but I am going to be blunt: I oppose the $25 billion in emergency loans to the auto industry because there is a Bankruptcy Law titled Chapter 11, Restructuring, let them file for that first then we'll talk. I had to file bankruptcy a while ago, (not a pleasant experience) and trust me I felt like a failure.
Oh, Mr. Paulson, You were going to tell us that the bailout was not working, When?? I should have gone with my first instinct, to oppose the 700 billion dollar Bailout, and did I?  No, I foolishly placed my trust in a government that spends money like drunken sailors. (No offense against our military).   Why was there no accountability? Why would we give money without a repayment plan or at least a hand-written post-it saying where the 700 billion is going? He, Who Fails to Plan, Plans to Fail!! I am sorry Mr. President, but I need to speak my mind before I reduce another female bill collector to tears.  We were all duped Sir, including you.
To answer your question, do I support another failed bailout of some company, bank or other entity that did not use there brains or their money correctly?  Heck No!! 

As are many Americans in our beloved USA, my husband and I are struggling to make ends meet at this moment and we are both not well people.   Much of our combined income is used to pay our mortgage due partially to our excessive property taxes (which is more than are dang mortgage) and partially because of our current income.   I have a few disabilities that limit any full-time employment. I am trying to go back to some sort of part-time employment but it is slow going.   A few years ago, my poor husband was laid-off after 30 years of faithful service and had to start his career at square-one.  Fortunately, his New Employers appreciate him because he does his job well, plays by the rules and gets along well with others, which is more than I can say for the Elementary School Kids, we elected to represent us! (Our side did not win many Senate or House seats let alone the Presidency, bummer)!! Well one can't have everything can one, but gee whiz, a small break would be nice! 

In Summary: Though I am against the Auto Company Bailout, I am not totally heartless, if you can do a structured bailout with a real logical plan of action and not just throw money from the dome of the Capitol then perhaps I will reconsider.  Now mind you, it must be a real working plan not the Moonlight Madness Shopping Spree.   In the meantime, go to all parties involved, from union leaders, employee representatives, and the company suits, put them in a big room and flip a coin or arm wrestle and nobody leaves the room until you guys reach a plan.

Product Quality and Safety Standards in Imports, Say No to Cap and Trade

Dear Congress,

Subject:   Product Quality and Safety Standards in Imports, Say No to Cap and Trade

Melamine does not belong in our food supply and Chinese drug and food supplies do not belong on our shelves. First it was Melamine Contamination in our Pet Food and Food Supplies, then in Human Grade Rice and Wheat; next It was contaminated Heparin, Now it is Melamine contamination again in our children's food supply and baby formula, and God knows what else tomorrow.

This is just more evidence that we need to encourage American Companies to stay in the USA. We need to resume manufacturing and production in the USA.   We need to re-define, enforce, and reinforce, manufacturing standards in the USA and other countries where we have trade agreements. NAFTA may need re-evaluation and reform and finally the CAP TRADE BILL and is not in our best interest.

My disgust and anger with the Chinese Government, and their inadequate overseeing of products manufactured in their country, cannot be fully appreciated.

My anger and shock at my own Government and the US owned companies in China who are supposedly ensuring and overseeing the safety, quality and efficacy of Chinese and Mexican manufactured products is beyond palpable.

How dare you, how dare you risk the lives of your US citizens, especially the lives of defenseless human babies and children for the sake of a Politically Correct and an Inferior (at best), Trade Agreement with China or any other developing country with Lower than substandard practices in product safety, quality and efficacy. 

We were given a warning almost 2 years ago at the expense of life of (once again), defenseless creatures, when by the Grace of God; we found out about the Melamine Contamination in Pet Food and in Human Grade Foods containing grain sources. Upon this discovery, all Food, Drug and most products involving product safety with China should have been suspended until there was overwhelming evidence that said products had met and in the case of China exceeded product standards.

Have we not learned our lesson? How many lives must we sacrifice before we condemn products that are substandard and dangerous before we admit there exists right and wrong. Must the American People be punished for requiring safety, quality and excellence in production-practices? Must we live an inferior life-style because other nations choose to enslave their people and despise us rather than seek our assistance to improve their lifestyles as well? 

To knowingly allow, dangerous and substandard products into the USA from nations that care nothing about human lives and human dignity and/or about their safety and quality of life is beyond Totally Inexcusable and Beyond Appalling. 

We must and will call upon America to boycott products from nations with less than stellar performance records until you decide to stop insulting the American public by endangering our lives for the sake of appeasing other people, who do not have the best interests of the United States and Her people in mind.

Finally, can you logically expect participation in any National Service Plan until you can willingly and effectively demonstrate your service towards "We The People"?

Further inaction is not acceptable.

Porker of the Month:  Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid

Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) has named Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) Porkers of the Month for leading a do-nothing Congress into a five-week recess.  Of the 106 bills enacted since January, 94 -- or 89 percent -- were to name government buildings or lands, extend or make technical corrections to existing laws, or passed either by unanimous consent or with less than 10 dissenting votes.  The dubious accomplishments include “Frank Sinatra Day,” “National Plumbing Industry Week,” and “National Day of the Cowboy.”  In addition, the congressional leaders have deliberately ignored the October 1 deadline for passing the 12 annual appropriations bills.  Only one of the bills has passed the House, and the House Appropriations Committee has approved only four others.  In the Senate, the Appropriations Committee has approved nine, but none has reached the floor.  The Speaker and Majority Leader appear to be awaiting the presidential election, hoping that the winner will favor higher spending and more earmarks.  They had also wanted to avoid a vote on the moratorium on offshore oil drilling, which is typically renewed through the appropriations process, though they reversed course last week and said they would allow a vote.  For leaving town after Congress has spent nearly all of its time on frivolous legislation and failing to address critical issues, CAGW names Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid the August 2008 Porkers of the Month.  Read more about the Porker of the Month.

CAGW Cites Sen. Stevens' Pork following Indictment

CAGW has brought widespread attention to Sen. Ted Stevens’ (R-Alaska) lengthy record of securing special interest, pork-barrel projects following his indictment by the Justice Department at the end of last month on seven counts of failing to disclose $250,000 worth of gifts from a corporate benefactor.  Sen. Stevens helped take home a total of 1,452 pork-barrel projects worth $3.4 billion between 1995 and 2008, and Alaska has been the number one state in pork per capita every year since 1999.  Some of Sen. Stevens’ more infamous earmarks include $25 million for a supercomputer to study how to trap energy from the aurora borealis; $750,000 for grasshopper research; $500,000 for the Alaska Spruce Bark Beetle Task Force; $200,000 for the city of North Pole for recreation improvements; and $176,000 for the Reindeer Herder’s Association.  Sen. Stevens also defended the $223 million earmark for Alaska’s notorious “Bridge to Nowhere” on the Senate floor in 2005, threatening to resign his seat if Congress removed funding for the bridge.  “The incarceration of two members of Congress and the conviction or confession of numerous staff members in relation to earmarks has done nothing to rein in the proliferation of pork on Capitol Hill.  This latest allegation about the abuse of power will be ignored at members’ peril,” warned CAGW President Tom Schatz.  Read more about Sen. CCAGW Cheers Closure of Pell Grant Sex Offender Loophole

The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) this month expressed support for a provision in the Higher Education Opportunity Act (H.R. 4137) that will redirect wasteful Pell Grants from sex offenders to the hard-working students who need them.  Prison inmates have been banned from receiving Pell Grants since 1994, and some students convicted of drug offenses are barred.  However, repeat sex criminals who have served their sentences but are deemed too dangerous to be allowed back into society are kept in civil confinement centers and have remained eligible for the grants.  The provision closing the loophole, introduced by Rep. Ric Keller (R-Fla.), became law as part of H.R. 4137 on August 14.  “With every penny of Pell Grants needed for students, it was inexcusable for the federal government to be providing any money to sex offenders,” declared CCAGW President Tom Schatz.  “Rep. Keller deserves the thanks of every taxpayer.”  In Florida in one year alone, 54 of the most violent sexual offenders in one center obtained Pell Grants at taxpayer expense of more than $200,000.  With 20 other states employing civil confinement centers, millions of dollars have been wasted.    Read more about the Pell Grant loophole.

California's Computers Can't Calculate Minimum Numbers

CAGW this month highlighted a report from the August 5, 2008 Sacramento Bee in California about how antiquated state government computers have been unable to comply with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s (R) order that all state employees receive the minimum wage until a budget is adopted.  State Controller John Chang told the Bee that “it would take at least six months to reconfigure the state’s payroll system,” which he described as relying on “vacuum tubes and floppy disks.”  California is not the first state to experience problems with its old-fashioned mainframe computers.  In 2007, Virginia experienced a hardware failure in one of its mainframes that impacted several agencies, most notably the Departments of Motor Vehicles, Social Services, and Taxation.  Recently, the courts system in Texas switched from mainframes to a network-based electronic filing system.  Now, court clerks and attorneys can themselves file electronically and view documents, saving time and potentially millions of dollars.  “Legacy computer systems like the ones used in California are outdated, slow, and costly,” said CAGW President Tom Schatz.  “CAGW supports the investment necessary to improve the use of technology by all levels of government.  Unfortunately, legislators in Washington, D.C. and state capitals have not provided sufficient oversight or funding for these projects.”  Read more about California's legacy computer system.

Congress Apologizes for Slavery

Today we have reached a new milestone or millstone if one is a bit cynical like me, It would appear after some 232 years of Independence Declaring, Congress has now decided to issue an apology for the practicing of slavery and Jim crow segregation against African Americans.

I have very mixed emotions about this.   Perhaps if I were of another mind or I held a Liberal view as was my want in life some 30 years ago, I should be overjoyed by this awe inspiring news, virtually tripping afleet of foot down the golden pathways of hysterical happiness.  However a new bear has been seen growling through the woods these days and this bear has many questions. 
 
There have been apologies aplenty concerning man's inhumanity to man.   My Question: why now congress, why after 232 years or so,  have you decided to issue an apology at this time.  Of course I am not saying an apology is wrong and that such an apology should have been made some some 200 years ago and it was not.  I am merely questioning the timeliness of such a resolution. 
 
My opinion:  No man, woman, or child should ever be enslaved by another, for all men are created equal in the eyes of God and have rights in and under the law. 
 
To enslave another human being is to deny that person as human and insuch causing that person to be regarded and treated as an inferior being equivelent to being an animal, thus harming that person.  Therefore, slavery is a sin against God who gave us human rights in the first place and against each other.
 
My concern is now that the apology has been given, will we all be able to live in peace?  Will we feel free to discuss our differences reasonably?  Will we develop ways of accepting each other because of our differences, physical, mental, religious or otherwise?  Can we help erradicated slavery in other parts of the world by working with other peoples so they don't make the same mistakes of the past or is history doomed to repeat itself?   Will Black Americans, Native Americans and other people of color hold those people not of their race accountable for the people who lived here before.  Please remember not all people of color living today in the US had ancestors who were enslaved in the US.  Some people came to the US by their own free will from countries who may or may not have enslaved them.  Some people had ancestors who were considered freemen and thus not enslaved.  Not all people enslaved others.    Even today there are exceptions to any generalization.  We could have opinions about non-documented aliens vs documented aliens and naturalized citizens of all colors.  We can discuss the horrible practice of children and woman forced into labor or sex slavery or even white slavery.  Again let me be clear, slavery is absolutely an abomination.
 
My other concern:  Are we to be reminded constantly of the failings of the forebearers of this Country even though many of our ancestors were not involved in this period of time, or is it the old sins of the fathers thing, these not being our fathers.  Will we need to pay reparations for the rest of our lives and our descendents?
 
My Prayer: Dear Lord Teach Us to Love One Another as You Have Loved Us.

Let The People Decide!

Please forgive me but, I need to pick your brains yet again.
 
Please read and give me all and any advice and information regarding and pertaining to the feasibilty of said proposal listed below.  In other words I don't even know if this is permitted or attainable.  I depend on your wisdom.  I know little of law or industry but if there is the slightest chance of a possibilty, then by golly should we not take the bull by the horns or oil rigg and run with it. 
 
We all realize Energy Independence affects our National Security, Autonomy, Economy, and overall viability as a nation.  Please read and get back to me.
 
Dear Congress,
 
If The United States of America is truly a land of The People, By The People and for The People.  Then by all that is good let the people decide the Energy Policy whether to drill, produce and refine oil, build more refinaries, mine, produce and liquify coal, pipe natural gas, build nuclear plants, import sugar cane based ethanol from Brazil and whatever else is needed to bring our Energy Resources into the 21st century. 
 
We propose a Natural Energy Resources Initiative placed on the November 2008 General, Presidential, Congressional Election, Ballot to be worded as such:
 
We The People, authorize the President of The United States and The United States Congress to lift all bans and moritoriums relating to any and all drilling, and mining, production, and refining of any and all Natural Carbon based and or Fossil Fuels not limited and including all Nuclear, Solar, Wind, and other Technologies and the support and development of all and any said technologies.  Exploration and drilling shall be granted in the following regions: In the ocean off all coastal regions of the U. S., in ANWR in the area 1.5 million acres originally, designated and set aside for said purpose by Congress in 1980 and in any land area deemed neccessary, by any state containing said resources.
 
Permission will also be granted for any and all exploration, development and building of refinaries, Nuclear facilities, energy plants and facilities, oil drilling, mining, production, refinining, processing, storing, and all actvities associated with energy exploration, drilling, mining, production, processing, refining, distribution, and sale of  any and all said products. 
 
The American people authorize this proposal and request immediate action depending on outcome of voting.

Dear Friend:

I wanted to send you a quick email about the latest outrageous action by Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat leadership in Congress.  

When Americans are canceling vacations because gasoline is over $4.00 per gallon, Democrats plan to adjourn work for a month-long vacation the first of August WITHOUT holding a vote to drill for American oil.


This is inexcusable.

I know you’ll agree with me that there should be no recess without voting on legislation that can help lower gas prices.

No wonder the
new Gallup Poll yesterday that shows Congress’s approval rating has slipped to an all-time low of 14%. It’s not hard to figure out why.


The Democrat Majority in Congress is putting their extremist ideology ahead of common-sense solutions to bring down the price of gas and reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources in unstable regimes.

If you are as outraged as I am, I need you to do 2 things:

Dear Mr. President,

Please be the voice of reason for these reasons:

To everything there is a season there is a time to go to Mars, a time to go to China, a time to listen to Al Gore.   Scratch that, never is the time to listen to Al Gore.  Now is the time to drill for oil. 

I will give you several reasons why we should be drilling: 

First: China and Russia are drilling some 50 or so miles from our shores and China may even be slant drilling which means they stay in their permit allowed area but slant the drilling into our side of the ocean all perfectly legal I'm sure.   If they can drill why can't we, so Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid can be all powerful?  Why are the Dems so afraid?

Second:  ANWR!   There are  2000 acres I believe that had been set aside in the 19 million acres of federal land located in a very desolate, frozen, tundra at best in the winter and mosquito city in the summer.  The polar bears and caribou don't even like this area EXCEPT when there is a pipeline, then the caribou love it because it is warmer near the pipelines, so in actuality we are saving caribou lives.  Plus the bears would love the company. 

Mr. President, I know you don't like the computer much, but you need to visit the Arctic Power website it is totally awesome.  Drilling technology has come along way since the 1970's and 80's .   Remember J.R. Ewing and Dallas, What a great show!   Forgive me but I digress.  Anyway the drilling footprint size has substantially decreased just look at what they have done on the North Slope, Arctic Power has made the wells almost undetectable.

Third:  Did you know that there are over 4,000 products made from or containing petroleum, from fuels to plastics to medications and foods.

Fourth: Speaking of the least wealthy, who run their homes with heating oil, what will they do in the winter.  They can't afford to retro-fit their homes for other fuels let alone afford the gas.

Fifth:  Now I am all for alternative energies not necessarily to save the environment but because of cost. 

Sixth: Solar panels in addition to the cost would not do well in Camden, NJ or  West Philly for example.  Nor would windmills.  The thought of Windmills some 50 or so feet high with gigantor whirling blades spinning over my head increases my need for a good Therapist. 

Seventh: Here's my idea:  Allow the oil companies keep their tax breaks and subsides to use for the development and successful implementation of alternative fuels only and I repeat only If they engage in developing alternative fuels and they must show progress and productivity and they must work with an Oversight Committee that includes folks from all parties in all 50 states.   A little ambitious?  Well so is Congress' plan. 

Mr President, I have been a very vocal CONSERVATIVE Republican for a few years.   Yes, I have been a Dem a Lib and, an Ind, so I have experienced confusion before but not now.   I can see clearly what Congress refuses to recognize or is it that they want to punish us for sins against:  (pick a reason).   In any event, don't you agree the American People should be set free from these enviro-facists.  Now is the time for rational thought Sir.  Now is the time for reason and action.
